Because I like all of those things, it means that the show never fails to entertain me, whether with a dramatic story that makes my heart hurt, humor that makes me giggle, simply watching the characters be who they are, or with a wholly unexpected twist. How dull, and how unlike Bones it would have been, to do exactly what people were expecting. When both characters in a romance are part of the larger story, it makes it easier for their scenes to serve a dual purpose. Think about the difference between Wendell and Andie, and Aubrey and Jessica. Meanwhile, it also gives us some nice scenes between Cam and Angela. The topic came up again last year, in The Lost in the Found. Truly, Brennan was my favorite thing in this episode. While Booth and Brennan are the primary relationship for me, I enjoy watching both of them interact with others on the team, because I like them so much as individuals. I particularly like watching her with Clark. However much she trusts the others to do an exemplary job because they are her students, after all , they are still just that:
‘Bones’: A guide to our favorite squinterns
As to why it’s Arastoo who wound up replacing Brennan, I think it would either have been him or Daisy, regardless of Arastoo’s relationship with Cam. Clark has a job, and there’s no logical reason for the Jeffersonian to move him from one position to the other and thus leaving the other one open unless Clark himself really wanted that, and maybe he didn’t.
Unless I’m forgetting something, they’ve not said anything to indicate where Wendell is with finishing his degree, and he might realistically have fallen behind due to the cancer. But Arastoo was working on his dissertation, and Daisy failed her orals. So of the interns who’ve been there the longest, I think they’re the best candidates for finishing their degree, or, at the very least taking over in some capacity.
And I can see the show thinking Arastoo would provide more organic stories from it, due to the relationship with Cam.
Spoilers revealed that unlike the wedding of Temperance “Bones” Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz), the nuptials of Cam and Arastoo will be a small one.
